Wisdom tooth extraction is the process of removing the third molars from the mouth when there is insufficient space in the jaw structure, when they erupt in the wrong position, or when they remain impacted. It is one of the most commonly performed surgical dental procedures.
Wisdom teeth often fail to erupt properly and may put pressure on adjacent teeth. This condition can lead to pain, infection, tooth decay, and gum problems. Extraction is performed to prevent the progression of these issues.
For impacted or semi-impacted wisdom teeth
In cases of recurrent pain and swelling
When decay or pressure occurs in surrounding teeth
In the presence of difficulty opening the mouth and infection
The position of the wisdom tooth and its relationship with the nerves are evaluated via X-ray.
The area is numbed before the procedure, so no pain is felt during the extraction.
Depending on the condition of the tooth, extraction is performed using either the classical or surgical method.
Post-procedure care recommendations are shared, and a follow-up appointment is scheduled if necessary.
